Pre-Purchase Inspection

A safety certificate confirms the minimum. A pre-purchase inspection tells you what you are buying: engine and transmission condition, leaks, rust beyond the structural areas, accident repair signs, scan of every module, and an estimate of upcoming maintenance. Book both together and save.

Safety Inspection Questions

How long is the certificate valid?
36 days from the inspection date.

What if my vehicle fails?
You get a written list. Repair here or elsewhere and return for re-inspection. Repairs done here are re-inspected [free, confirm].

Who pays, buyer or seller?
Usually the buyer, since the certificate must be within 36 days of registering. Sellers sometimes provide one to make the sale easier.

Does a check engine light fail the inspection?
Not on its own, though it is recorded. Brake, ABS and airbag lamps do fail.

Can you inspect an out-of-province vehicle?
Yes. Book the safety inspection and tell us where the vehicle is from; we will advise on any additional requirements.
